The Deep Impact DVD

On this DVD there were more than 650,000 names collected over a six-month period. The small disk was mounted on the impacting spacecraft. It was destroyed when the impactor collided with comet Tempel 1. The Deep Impact mission dug deep beneath the surface of the comet to release frozen ice and dust left over from the formation of the solar system.
